Taking The Long Way Around

I hope the readers of this blog will stick with me as I take the long way around to a few crucial issues that present themselves to us, the citizens of this nation.

Is this predictable? I suppose. People pretty much know what they're getting when I write a post. I could spend a little more time constructing the imagery, or searching for that perfect...word. I could use some of my fiction experience to draw the reader in. But, you know, I would just much rather let you all know what is happening and the take I have on that. If you find that valuable, or persuasive, I appreciate it, but my message is for you, to help you see what I see, or to confirm that what you are seeing is in fact the horrendous pile of garbage that it is.

See, all we have is us. If it were any different, we wouldn't have heard John Boehner gushing over the love Barack Obama has for the Republican opposition today from the capitol. We would not have heard about how they longed to work together. Intellectually I know that this is probably all window dressing during the lame-duck session, but the Republican Party is not far enough away from the recent backstabbing of the American public to be playing this game.

Despotism Made Easy

Here is a snarky little bit of advice for the would be despot. It sounds more like a Democratic Platform page than anything else to me. It's worth your time. h/t Western Rifle Shooters Association.

The Real Target of the Terrorists

In 1993 there came word, breaking news, of an explosion in the basement garage of the World Trade Center. It was February 26th and it was the first terrorist attack on American soil. It was more significant than the press it received. The blast excavated a 100 foot hole several stories deep and several stories high. Six people were killed and over one thousand injured.

That is not the way it was portrayed in the media. It was just a bombing. The FBI would handle it and get to the bottom of the attack. It was a criminal act with a political bent. It was a curiosity like the kidnapping of Patty Hearst with the same apparent ramifications. Only in hindsight is it given the true importance it deserved.

The terrorist attack on 9-11 would bring to the fore the real target of the 1993 attack and reveal it as the Western economy. The seeming vague purpose of the first bombing becomes a glaring red flag of hatred with the second attack.

David Codrea Brings Us An Expose on the SPLC

The Southern Poverty Law Center perhaps had some legitimacy at one time, which has been sold for fame and fortune for Morris Dees, a person I have always considered a self-serving hate-monger, but that's just me. The Social Contract is highlighted by the Examiner's David Codrea in a piece on SPLC that one must read in order to understand the depths to which the SPLC has fallen and what it has in mind for you.

GM, Unions and the Obama Administration

If the people were so inclined, impeachment of Barack Obama would not be out of the question. While the Left likes to link Halliburton to any conservative and brand that conservative with the worst the corporation has done, or it has been reported that it has done, there seems to be no interest in the linkage between Obama and labor unions.

Likewise, since dealerships are not unionized, the decisions to shut down certain dealerships for GM and Chrysler for whatever reason the administration offered were actually done along contributor/Democrat lines. I recall a lot of the owners of dealerships that were threatened with being shut down begging for some reason, or some logic to it, when all they had to do was review their donation records and party affiliation. Also, inner city dealerships were maintained while rural dealerships were axed.

A Government Against Its People

Here we are toeing the line in the sand we have drawn in our minds. We are at the place where our government has become hostile to its own people, ready to brand them as extremists merely for voicing an unpopular opinion. Criticism and requesting a redress of grievances has become an indicator of probable cause.

In Washington D.C. there are rulers. They have come to the people through regulations and have used them as bludgeons with which to demand compliance. No longer is it a matter of mutual sacrifice for mutual protection; it is a matter of compliance or imprisonment. It is no longer possible to react to government overreach with protest, that protest now brands one with the sign of the radical. You, me, everyone who dislikes and complains about the TSA procedures and advocates a protest has become a “domestic extremist.”

Lies, BS and Politics

Politics is the art of lying. When done properly, it is done to assure one group of your followers while not alienating the independents and hopefully, infuriating your opponents. The reasons for this desireable outcome should be obvious, but if not, let me expound. Of course telling the truth to one's followers would be the best and that can be done under the right circumstances without worry of electronic recording. Since the advent of the tape recorder, however, it is necessary to assume that the walls have ears and that even in private a politician can convey the message without being overt enough to alienate the middle.

The true middle, the true indpendent doesn't really listen to any politician, but they do tune in whenever a gaff is made. This is where the Republicans are at a distinct disadvantage, since they have to rely on radio listeners and blog readers to get their side of the story out. Democrats, on the other hand, can have their grievance aired on every television station between here and Nome in a nanosecond, increasing the probablility that the moderate will only get liberal messages.

The purpose of infuriating your opposition, is to get the word out to the moderates. Everytime an ad goes out excoriating the Right for a thing it believes in, like the abolishment of partial birth abortion, that exposes the issue to the otherwise hapless, thoughtless independents in the crowd who actually agree with the conservative position, but have not tuned in long enough to find out what the conservatives believe.

Backed Into A Corner

For me, the struggle we are going through is more than just a natural revulsion for Obamacare and a belief in the idea that people ought not be forced to participate in commerce against their wishes. The struggle is for more than the Right over the Left. It is more than conservative and liberal wrangling and tusseling over definitions. I am not as much of an ideologue as some might think.

I have been forced into the corner I find myself in by dirty deals done in Washington and New York. I am a sucker, a fool, a patsy for the powerful and well-born. I have always known this. We are working people, my clan. There is hardly a college education to be found in the whole wide reaches of our families on both sides. We don't aspire to greatness, or notoriety, those are things for the eternally ungrateful. My people are happy with what we have, which has been little more than a job and a home.

From these modest means I grew into a man who asked nothing of others that was not asked of me.  My expectations were to live a life of relative freedom in one of the greatest nations on earth. I see it this way because I grew up far from the reaches of liberal nonsense in Berkeley. We would shake our heads and pick up our lunch box and hope that sort of insanity did not reach our distant burg.

I speak often now of conflict, of being pushed too far, of retaliation, of standing for principle. This is not who I am, this is not what I want. But, it has been a long time since I got what I wanted, which was to be left alone to sit on a bridge and watch the water push thickly over boulders and crash into foam on the other side. I want to raise my children in the tradition in which I was raised, one of minding one's own business and doing to others as I would have done to me.

Had Enough?

Are you ready for rebellion? I know the readers of this blog are fed up with the actions of the government, but more specifically with their methods. It is one thing to deny a person the common decency of feigning respect for the law, it is quite another to take the "Whadda ya gonna do about it, Bub?" attitude of the TSA, of John Podesta (an oily little snake if I ever saw one) and the Department of Justice.

I did think the elections of November would give them something to think about, a pause of reflection. I gave them too much credit. An administration which has gotten its way through brutal SEIU thugs being sent out to confront peaceful citizens and attack them with epithets disgusting and false is unable to lead with dignity.

Perhaps that is the biggest insult of all, the lack of dignity with which this has been done. It is the gutter politics unleashed on the people that pushes one to the brink of rebellion. Is that what they want? Isn't that the signal John Podesta is sending with his comments (h/t Gateway pundit through Coordinated Illumination) about the methods by which Obama could "rule" and it must be to "rule" because what they have suggested is not governing. Aren't they pushing us toward this result? We don't want it. We want to stay at home, to mind our business, to tend our chores, to grow our crops and raise our brood. The American people are rightfully slow to rouse. They tend to let those in government govern. They generally accept their role as bi-annual supporters or detractors and leave the ugly sausage-making to others. But...

The Communist In The Mirror Is Closer Than You Think

If there is any doubt that Communism is alive and well in the United States, one should take a trip to The Blaze, Glenn Beck's news site, and scroll down a bit. There are videos of your neighbors saying "Yo soy un communista" They are coming out of the closet. But, why now?

The obvious answer is because they did not get the change they voted for. Their understanding of the change Barack Obama represented was socialism leading to communism. With hopes fading that Obama will make good on his pledge to "fundamentally transform America," they intend to take what little momentum is left and call on the moochers and looters to make good on their stated ideology of overthrowing the capitalist society of America.

They had waited since 1917 for the moment that Barack Obama represented. Through all of the other times, the Great Depression and the 1960's enlightenment, they had not progressed as far as they would have liked, but all of that changed in November of 2008 with the election of one of their own. He was a Marxist, a labor union sympathizer, an ACORN lawyer and a follower of the Black Evolution Theology leader Jeremiah Wright. What more could a communist look for in a president? They were assured that soon the United States would be delivered into their hands. They would drown the dreaded capitalist in their own soup!

It looked good at first. Obama came to power at time when corporations and banks were suspect, when huge companies teetered on the edge of collapse, giving the excuse to "nationalize" these corporations under the guise of "saving" them. It was perfect.

How America Has Changed

We are told to believe that nothing will change. This is the rally cry of the intimidated politicos who have recently witnessed the struggle for power between the GOP and the Tea Party, between the Republicans and Democrats. The sweeping change to state houses and the federal government has been a startling example of what power the people have and can use to effect change. They are panicked and screaming: "But, smart people know that nothing will change. It is too big, too complicated, too ingrained. You have shuffled the deck is all."

It is time to press the advantage, to go further than elections. Government is too big and too intrusive and every example of it should be exposed, exploited and protested. It is on the brink of toppling to the death panels and tax collectors. Even though only a few have come to understand the lessons of 2010, they are obvious if one cares to evaluate it properly. Here is the lesson: there is nothing more intimidating, more infuriating and more difficult to control than a mass of leaderless Americans. This polite, considerate mob strikes fear into the hearts of the Washington politician, because they are accustomed to a lazy electorate, one who pays their way and stands back and takes the insults. They are not accustomed to a demanding, rowdy public who expect results.

If the American public can get a repeal of Obamacare, there is nothing that cannot be done. This is the most sweeping legislation of our time, taking over 1/6 of the U.S. economy, instituting bureaucracy after bureaucracy, requiring the submission of the most personal of liberties to government oversight.

The Race Is On

No, I don't mean the George Jones classic, I mean the tilting dominoes of the European Union. Ireland, Portugal and Greece. Each nation is teetering like a drunk doing the midnight heel-to-toe. We are all just taking bets on the first to spill into full-blown bankruptcy and which nation will be taken with it.

In America there is a race between imposing Obamacare and the economic meltdown set up by the same shysters who dreamed up the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. None other than Paul Krugman today admitted that death panels, a thing they rejected vehemently only a few months ago, would have to be imposed alongside a new Value Added Tax, or VAT, in order to supply healthcare to everyone, except of course those who were deemed "goners" by the death panel that is only a fiction of a vast, rightwing conspiracy and a lunatic governor from Alaska.

There Is A Limit To Implied Consent

I have been disturbed for a long time about these full body scanners. I know it is all futuristic and cool to see what people have on under their clothes without the actual disrobing, but there is a level of privacy one should not give up just to get on a flight.

Initially, I will admit that I approved of a lot of the increased security provided by TSA. It seemed to make sense in the wake of our national tragedy, but like most things the government gets a hold of, it goes too far, costs too much and does too little. Now, with the full body scanners, I believe this a step too far. Also, the way the Obama Administration has handled the protests over these scanners incites revolt.

Kerodin's Platform

If you are looking for a platform for 2012 that appeals to the strict Constitutionalist, Kerodin has it.

He has a great site and is the author of a book on these issues.

The Brink Of Servitude

In a little over two months the newly-elected members of the U.S. House and Senate will take their seats fully vested with the authority of the Constitution. This is the product of the people, Tea Parties and freedom-loving American organizations all across the land, taking the legal route to demanding the outright repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). It is possible that they may first pass an extension of the Bush era tax cuts.

Here is the plan. The Congress should not pass an extension of the Bush era tax cuts without attaching, as an amendment thereto, a repeal of Obamacare. As the left always points out, the tax cuts need to be paid for. While I refuse to accept the premise that tax cuts need to be paid for, let them explain how they would vote for the maintenance of the tax cuts without providing for spending cuts to "pay" for them. One source of tax revenue and efficiency that would yield revenue would be to repeal PPACA. The lie of its positive effects on the budget has been exposed.

There are savings to be derived from the NON-implementation of the PPACA. Regulations and requirements of the PPACA are already costing valuable time and effort in the workforce. Taxes to pay for these regulations will soon go into effect, along with compliance requirements. We are right now feeling the steel against our skin as the yoke decends on the social neck. Immediate nullification would relieve any number of health care providers and businesses of obligations that the federal government is currently giving waivers to "favorite" organizations anyway. Let's call them the "McDonalds" waivers. Most small businesses will not be afforded these same favors, only those heavily unionized and powerful companies will receive these advantages.

The collaborators are already being paid off by the administration. This preferential treatment is called a "Bill of Attainder" and it is prohibited in Article 1, Section 9. Actually a Bill of Attainder says that the government cannot single out a person or a corporation for punishment, but when it chooses "favorites" among the industry it in effect punishes those corporations in competition with the favorites and acts as a de facto punishment.

The people are now on the brink of servitude. It is clear that PPACA is a violation of the Constitution, in fact it nullifies every restriction on the government from imposing its will on the people by taking the commerce clause to mean that forcing participation in commerce is within the perview of the government. This very dangerous legal position is but one of the extra-Constitutional aspects of the law and any agreement with it, or modification of it does not utterly destroy the legal position taken in the overall tone of the legislation.

Decisions

We might like to think that there is a decision to be made between what we know today and what we knew yesterday. Were it possible to go back to the isolated existence of pre-television America, we would not be able to reverse the events that have taken place. Everything we have now was built into every decision already made by those willing to exploit the advantages of freedom. Action was allowed to become divorced from consequence.

Freedom, prosperity, generosity, kindness have all led us to the point of the spear. These things, which are virtues among men are vices among governments. When we seek to do good through devices other than our own discretion we only place treasures and power in the hands of those who do not deserve it. Governments are incapable of divining the appropriate method of distribution. They merely add layers of bureaucracy and inefficiency to the transaction. Only a person who has earned the national coin is wise enough to disperse it. Even a mistake by the owner of wealth results in a more careful distribution later on. A government has no such self-correcting mechanism.

Today we dump trillions of dollars of value into our social programs and have not corrected the flaws in the regulations, or the methods we use to disperse the funds. There is no mechanism to do so and even if there were, that would be yet another layer of administration and the dollars would get further and further away from their mark.

No, it is the individual who is capable of all of these things intrinsically. So, the question is who does the government serve if not the contributor to the cause or the recipient of the largess? The secret is that government serves only government. It takes on more and more justifications for assessing greater taxes, but it is not a person, it does not feel loss at wasted dollars or chagrin at giving fraudulent assistance. It is a robot mindlessly performing tasks, the results of which cannot be computed through the equation of take and give.

The New American Citizen

We are at the dawn of a new age in America. The old ways are proving less and less viable. Sustainability is not a new word, it is the word for what came before. Now, there is unsustainable debt, unsustainable regulations, unsustainable oppression, unsustainable ignorance, unsustainable leisure, unsustainable inattention. Common sense tells us all we need to know about the future of America. It is up to us.

What we used to do can no longer be done. I don't care if that means something different to everyone. We cannot live this way. We cannot let the government run itself, it is incapable of it. Think of the government as a group of teen-agers. It is irresponsible. It lies to itself and to us. It goes off on spending sprees it cannot afford. It refuses to take the blame for anything it does. Like a teen-ager on a drunken binge, it careens down the hall spilling beer and breaking things and pointing at everyone else in the room as the cause.

We are the parents, the landlords, the cops on the beat, the nun with the ruler. It is our job to be these things and not to turn a blind eye to their excesses and disorderly conduct.

MamaLiberty left a comment on the Eve of Conflict and wanted to know where the teeth was in the proposal being made. Well, it wasn't in the proposal, because it is implied in the Declaration of Independence. The question is when do we give up on this form of government?

In the Declaration of Indpendence it clearly sets out that:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
There is a time coming when we are going to need to move toward the Constitution, or toward socialism/communism. We are going to have to perfect our methods of injecting the people into these decisions before the government takes it upon itself to decide for us. We need to build muscle before we can flex it. This is exercise that we are engaging in, getting us in shape for the big decisions later.

Severing The Manly Parts

Another old post for my visitors

I don't know when it started, somewhere between believing the United States of America was the greatest nation on earth and believing it was full of self-centered, egomaniacal, narcissistic couch potatoes, a change took place. The American people began to buy into the European definition of Americans. My personal belief is that the elite in the U.S., who travel and get Euro-bigotry directed at them, abandoned the pride of being American for the comfort of wagging a finger at their fellow citizens from the French Riviera. They chose the other side in the face of Euro-arrogance and did not respond with patriotism.

What bothers the elite so much about the Tea Party is that it is full of people who believe in the greatness of the nation and, from outside eyes, appear to be unapologetically nationalistic, a sin they had long since denounced. They are embarrassed of their kin. They view American nationalism as a sort of mental retardation, because the Euro-bigots have convinced them of it. Had they the backbone and clarity to argue the merits of Americanism, they would not have severed their manly parts in an effort to fit in.

Where these Americans view themselves as more enlightened than the middle-class working Joe, they invite into the void of estranged nationalism a sort of self-annihilation, a desire to squash Americanism into quasi-European world membership. They view patriotism as a disease and worldliness as a badge. They, who have been across the oceans and mixed with the peoples of other nations, return to America with a desire to remake themselves by remaking the nation. What's worse, they generally have the money and power to make the attempt.

This act of self-annihilation comes with an invitation to others to join the game. It is an invitation to reconquistas, socialists, communists, greenie eco-maniacs and a whole host of other anti-American drum beaters. While the American elite seek inclusion into the world elite (a desire seen best in the frustrations of the nouveau riche as they attempt to break into "old" money institutions), the others seek the destruction of America as we know it.

The others see the advancement of the self-annihilation movement as a chance to bring down the great beast. Reconquistas see a chance to take back the lower half of the United States for Mexico; the socialists see an opportunity to expand socialism; the jihadists see a chance to drive a stake through the heart of the Great Satan; the communists see an opportunity to tag onto all of this snapping at the heels of America to accomplish through proxy what they could not do directly.

It is the lack of patriotism that has put the blood in the water for the rest. This is why you see the likes of La Raza, the International Socialist Organization, the Communist Party USA, even Ex-Offenders Association of Pennsylvania at the upcoming rally in D.C. it is  a veritable list of organizations, especially public sector unions, who would like to see capitalism destroyed and the money and power delivered into their hands.

The only thing standing in the way of all of this "progress" is the middle-class working American who still believes in the rule of law, the Constitution, and America as the greatest nation on earth. This is why the Glenn Beck "Restoring Honor" rally and the 9-12 and 4-15 rallies just tick these people off, because it shows them the lack of progress they have made against the wide center of the nation. It demonstrates in vibrant and alarming images that they are small and insignificant.

The One Nation rally (ironic in its title because it is meant to demonstrate vividly that there are two nations, theirs and ours), is meant to mark the lines in the coming civil war. There are those who intend to fundamentally change America into a Third World power where every dog gets a bite of the dirty hot dog and those who recognize that capitalism, especially where combined with American republicanism, makes every dog a king in his own yard.

The crucial difference between these groups, a thing missed completely by the Tea Party crowd, is that while the Glenn Beck rally and others are meant to demonstrate to the government the power of the people, this One Nation rally is meant to demonstrate to the Tea Party crowd the power these groups have amassed AGAINST them. That is a startling difference and all with the complicity, perhaps encouragement, of Barack Obama, President of the United States.

If you don't think you are in a fight, wait 'til you get smacked in the mouth.

Do We Need A New Word For Treason?

An old post from Tea Party News

Say any word a thousand times and it loses its meaning. Yet, how could any act punishable by death lose its meaning? I don't care how many times I hear the word murder, it always pretty much holds the same weight as the first time I heard it. The same goes for rape. I heard the word many times and have seen it used superfluously as in: "They are raping the land!" Regardless, when I hear that word, it sparks an internal revulsion.

Treason seems to no longer hold that same revulsion. It is a co-opted word by those guilty of it. It is a word reserved for those who have gone against the government. But, when the government goes against the people in clear violation of the Constitution, the word never appears, or when it does it carries no weight whatsoever. So, one must ask oneself: "Why not?"

Why not, indeed.

A word like treason only holds meaning if it is enforced, if it represents a true and rational threat. Where there is no one to enforce the death penalty aspect to it, there is no meaning. Traditionally, we think of the consequences of treason more than the mere act of it. We might imagine the sneaky, late-night passing of communication between the treasonous agent and the beneficiary, but it is the stark sight of the firing squad that brings home the import of the act.

Another aspect to the act of treason that lends more weight to the word at one time rather than another is the immediacy of threat. When a nation is at war, treason is dealt with differently than when it serves to aid some distant military threat. I'm not sure that it should, but it is a fact. Part of that obviously comes from the lives put in danger dimension to a nation at war and the possibility of war.

In America today, we are at war. Treason is being committed. Lives are being put in danger as a result. This treason is open and clear, almost insultingly obvious, to anyone who cares to look. So, it must be the word that means nothing. I guess we need a new word for it.

The Eve of Conflict

We now have what we have been waiting for. In the words of Barack Obama, "we are the ones we've been waiting for." We, the patriotic masses who find comfort in the stars and stripes, who know what it means to be an American have arrived at the precipice of history. It is a dangerous and deep chasm we see from above that separates us from them.

We are embroiled in a tug of war for the future of the nation. It is an ideological gulf that separates the sides. If one truly believes that America should be a socialist/communist country, that cannot be reconciled with the sentiment that it should not. This is not a new conflict where the sides are ill-defined and yet to be set. This is an old battle taken to a new terrain. Rather than being fought by one government to another, it is being fought right now in the minds of the populace.

The socialist/communist faction in America is largely made up of media personalities: of them are Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Oprah Winfrey, PBS, television, movies and labor unions. Their forces have infiltrated the government (yes, even the Republican side) in Washington and state houses all over the nation. Socialism/communism can be found in the courtrooms, the classrooms and even the boardrooms of those seeking one last chance at profit before they sign away their rights with ours.

This conflict has been an underground stream of discontent between the sides for one-hundred years. Think of it. This is not new, only the open declaration of the socialist/communist faction has the twinkle of novelty about it. They wear union insignia and boast of their connection to the highest offices in the land. Under every SEIU T-shirt is a hammer and sickle, if not, let them deny it, let them denounce it. Pull the mask from their faces and make them reveal their intent. Their willing violence in the streets in defense of the political class says all a patriot needs to know. But, they will probably admit it if pushed, if coerced, if brought out of their routine of denial.

I believe that we are at the starting point of a long and arduous journey toward a Restoration of the Constitution. It is our duty to breathe new life into the ancient document, to make words mean things again. As Orrin Hatch appropriately stated this morning on FOX News, "if Obamacare is allowed to stand, it means that the government can make us do literally anything."

Repeal is more than symbolic, it is the central actionable cause left to the patriot. If we cannot rally all of the patriotic people of the land to stand in defiance of this bill, to demand a passage and a presidential signature, or the override of the veto, then we shall stand for nothing else again. If you are looking for that peaceful moment to make your voice heard, to drive home your demand for republican government and the rule of law, this is it.

January 21st, we should meet on the steps of the capitol and demand the vote in the House and the vote in the Senate. On January 28th a new set of patriots should take up the rotation and let the others go home. Week after week there should be a changing of the guard. Take your valuable vacation and make it count. Take your unemployment and put it to use. Take your leave from war and contribute to the home front. Take your slowed business cycle and come to Washington for a week. Use whatever funds you can. Identify with others who cannot possibly go and ask for a donation to help you go. Who in the D.C. area can put some people up? These are the thoughts of a patriot, of a dedicated American. Plan your trip now. Do not let them breathe. If we fail at this, there will only be one outcome: civil war.

If not now, when? If not us, who?
